Mockery, disgrace, farce--all come to mind. . .

Nobel Peace Prize and $1.50 will get you a small coffee at McDonald's.

Well, it's not like it means much after they gave to it carbon-hog, Pope Gore I of the Church of Global Warming.

Someone, please. . .tell me, how does one rate a Nobel Peace Prize when one has only been eligible for said prize for two weeks?

I do believe that someone is worried about not getting enough Obamass-kissing in before the holidays!

Now, a humble man, one who truly understands his accomplishments and acknowledges the limits of his influence, would turn this prize down. . .and wait until it is truly deserved.  Will B.O. turn it down?  Of course not!  He thinks he was born deserving this prize.  (FYI:  if he turns it down--despite my pessimistic predictions--I will apologize right here on this blog.  AND I will apologize sincerely. . .I'm used to having to be reminded that humility is the best road.)  But in my long experience working with borderline personality disordered patients, all of whom were clinical narcissists, I'm willing to bet this month's stipend that B.O. can't resist this wholly undeserved prize.  He will accept and use "I" and "me" in more than 50% of the acceptance speech.

I just sent an email to the Nobel Prize Cmte expressing my dismay at this absurd degradation of the Peace Prize.  I would encourage all of you to do the same:  postmaster@nobel.no

Evidently they were looking at his promise of change in so many areas.

With that in mind, I promise to change our dependence on foreign oil with a soon-to-be-developed perpetual motion machine.

    So where's my prize?

  2. Apparently LACK OF PEACE while in the womb under Obama's administration was not taken into account...

I've been thinking about world peace a lot lately and I am looking for someone to write a really good speech for me. So, maybe next year, I'll be in the running for such a "prestigous" award.

  5. Thank you for posting. Here is a copy of my e-mail to them:

"Next year, I intend to eliminate war, poverty, sickness, and boredom. Can't wait to pick up my awards for Peace, Economics, Medicine, and Literature!!! (I really mean it for all of them!). Please send checks and medals to:"

Since I will be getting these $4M and change from all the awards thanks to you, I will take care of all the books in your list (only if I win)

I think it's an indication of just precisely how delighted the world is with the decline of the Bush dynasty.

It's their way of sending out kudos. As in: Thank goodness the Mad Man is gone. You know: the one who threw the entire world economy on the garbage heap.

It's a tiny price to pay for the return of American dignity in the eyes of the world. Plus, he can write and deliver a speech. Wow. What a change.

I found Bush reprehensible in every way, shape or form. He destroyed America, the world economy and threw education on the trash heap under the guise of "no child left behind."

I disagree with you Fr. and I don't understand your penchant for the political.

  7. Lynne, so the cmte gives BO the prize for not being Bush. You agree with most of us here then that BO doesn't deserve the prize anymore than any of the rest of us...none of us here are Bush: where's my prize?

  9. Fr. Philip,

I must confess that my mouth spewed both and an expletive spewed from my mouth when I saw the front page headlines at 4:55 yesterday morning...

Somehow I am reminded of childrens' soccer teams who are all declared winners no matter the final score and whose teammates get achievement trophies for just showing up. Has this insipid mentality permeated our society thus? Of course, BO was elected less for his achievements/merit but on mere promise and characteristics out of his control (minority race, not GWB), so why wouldn't he be granted a prize for the same reasons?

Check out Peg Noonan's op-ed at wsj.com (an online extra) -- can't express it better myself.

Father, no you're not Obama. Not by a long shot.

You're much more like Dubya. And I suspect you didn't get a prize because they don't give them out to priests with blogs.

You didn't get the memo.: You are not the President and you didn't just raise the approval rating from negative numbers to "high." That's the deal. Like it. Or like it.

    It's called reality.

  11. Anon., thank Jesus and all the saints I'm not B.O.

I don't support the murder of the unborn.

I don't hire communists, labor thugs, pedophiles, and anti-Semites to work for me.

I don't travel around the world on the taxpayer's dime telling our enemies how horrible said taxpayers really are.

I'm not a clinical narcissist with delusions of grandeur.

I actually worked my way through college...not on the dime of elitist white liberal guilt.

I could go on...but you are quite correct, my dear, I am NOT Obama. And thank God for that!

I thank God for that, too.

I like Obama. God forbid he should become narrow minded and bigoted.
