They say that curiosity kills the cat, but can it wound a blogging priest? Let's see. . .
I'm curious: Coffee Bowl Browsing is a mainstay of HancAquam. Basically, it's nothing more than me "flipping through" the internet and grouching about the news. Why "grouching"? Well, the caffeine from the morning's coffee hasn't circulated yet! That's my excuse anyway. I always end CBB with a few humorous links. . .by then my Bowl O'Stimulants has done its job.
So, here's the question: thinking about the typical content of CBB, what do you find to be the most and least appealing topics covered? Site Meter allows me to track "out clicks," so I have a pretty good idea about what folks find worthy of their time.
Also, include any other observations about CBB. Format? Length of entries? Sources of news? Special editions?

I generally enjoy the whole thing. I like the funny stuff best because the news items are usually so sad and because we have relatively similar (odd) senses of humor, though yours isn't nearly as dark as mine.
ReplyDeleteI like the whole thing. I glance through it and read what I want to read. You find things I don't see. The humor is great!
ReplyDeleteThese days, it's pretty much the only general news browsing I do.
ReplyDeleteI like it how it is.
Keep it as is.
ReplyDeleteHate the news part. The funny stuff is great.
ReplyDeleteBanjo, can you tell me exactly what it is that you don't like the newsy parts? Is it the news itself? My take on the news. . .? Etc.?
ReplyDeleteIt's just repetitive with all the other blogs that cover the same material. I like hearing your unique sense of humor the best. But don't go by what I say I am nobody in particular.
ReplyDeleteanother thing I forgot. I like it when priests write about Church things, not the fightings in the Church but stuff like how to pray.
ReplyDeleteBanjo, it's funny you say that b/c it is exactly what I've been thinking lately!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. . .
i wish i had your email address, I am a convert with lots of questions. Our priests are reluctant to answer questions, they are busy.
ReplyDeleteBanjo, send me your email address in the combox. . .I won't post it.
ReplyDeleteI turn to this blog faithfully to learn the current news about recent atrocities (or hurtful trends) against the faith, the Church, mainline people of traditional values, etc., and to keep abreast of the endless offenses against these values plotted by the WH. I am amazed, impressed and grateful that you can find and place at our disposal so much important (but often hidden) news reports and/or commentaries. I will continue to be a faithful and enthusiastic reader.
ReplyDeleteI have little interest in your homilies and lose all patience with you when someone calls you on an error - particulaly something you've stated inaccurately about the faith or some misunderstanding you have about "Catholic culture" -and instead of humbly accepting the correction, you begin issuing a series of volleys defending your error or refining the subject. Because I think this can confuse the faithful, and because I believe it's not good for you spiritually, I get disgusted.
Anon., all I ask is that you consider that I am trying to be funny (emphasis on "trying"). My sense of humor is not easily translated into writing. I know, that sounds like another excuse. When I am wrong, I admit it. I have no fear of correction or being wrong. That being said: thanks for the reminder and please keep reading!
