On Not Fitting the Pro-abortion Narrative

On Kermit Gosnell

On who? If you asked that question then that means the mainstream media has once again been doing its job – of censoring news and covering up important stories. This is one of the most spectacular news items to break in the US recently, yet almost no one knows about it, thanks to all the PC lefties in the MSM.

This huge story has been almost completely ignored by the pro-abortion mainstream media, but every media outlet in the country is covering this major news item: the weight gain happening to a pregnant Kim Kardashian. Go figure.

[. . .]

Kermit Gosnell faces 43 criminal counts, including eight counts of murder in the death of one patient, Karnamaya Monger, and seven newborn infants. Additional charges include conspiracy, drug delivery resulting in death, infanticide, corruption of minors, evidence tampering, theft by deception, abuse of corpse and corruption.

Gosnell has another characteristic which helps to bury his story. As it helps to bury many other stories of violence. Even those who report the story leave that out, though it's obvious.

  2. you'd have to wonder what was going through his mind as he worked in his squalid abattoir. I do pray that they convict; and that he might repent.

    1. "...and that he might repent." Fr. Levi, thank you for this reminder. I have found myself desiring only justice, conveniently forgetting all about mercy. This is one of those issues that challenges me in my acceptance of God's boundless mercy - that it is for everyone, even people who have done things like Gosnell has done. Again, thank you. I, too, will pray for his conversion and repentance - even as I continue to struggle with my human desire for him to eternally pay for his crimes.

  3. It occurs to me that pro-lifers may be overoptimistic about what would be accomplished by spreading the story. Gosnell's "practice" sounds exactly like all those "back-alley" abortions that supposedly took place before Roe v. Wade. When abortion advocates think of a back-alley abortion, their reaction is not, "gosh, abortion is horrible! It should never happen!" No, their solution is to legalize it so women can have nice, clean abortions. For a pro-choicer, wouldn't it follow that the way to get rid of the Gosnells out there is to legalize abortion in all months of pregnancy in every state, so women won't be "driven" to ugly, illegal practices like Gosnell's?
