  3. I get the chevron (stargate coordinate symbol) reference, I recognise the picture of Dante gazing upon the majesty of God in paradise... but what's the third thing?

  4. I'm with Stella on this. Stargate – check. Medieval literature/Dante - check. Third ??

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't figure out the third way of nerd-dom.

  6. Well, I might say the Third Nerd Reference of Friar PNP is lolcats (or perhaps the glorious illustrations of Gustave Dore, who is almost conjoined with Dante in the visual arts).

  7. I see that the Most Special Nerds are rare indeed!

Generally, it takes an Uber-Nerd to spot classical literary references in modern sci-fi. Once you get the hero-quest motif down, the rest is pretty easy.

IOW, the third kind of Nerd is the kind that can not only spot the two allusions but also make the connection btw Stargate and Dante.

  8. Oh, almost forgot. . .

How many chevrons did the original Stargate (SG-1) need to encode before working properly?

Why did I title this post "Chevron 10 encoded"?
