"A [preacher] who does not love art, poetry, music and nature can be dangerous. Blindness and deafness toward the beautiful are not incidental; they are necessarily reflected in his [preaching]." — BXVI
Holy smokes! What did you put in your coffee this morning?! Those first few lines were sure attention grabbers - and this was definitely one which was better to hear than read. There were some moments when I had to take a hard look at myself and say "yep, been there - done that - still doing it too"...nothing like a swift kick on a Sunday evening to straighten me out for the week :-).

ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again: the preacher preaches to himself first! So, I need to hear this homily more than I needed to write it.
DeleteWhat did I put in my coffee? A big heaping spoon of nasty instant coffee. . .the closest thing I have to espresso! :-)
