Coffee Cup Browsing

Guns! Guns! Guns!  As gun ownership skyrockets murder rates. . .drop?  Yup.  Homicide is no longer one of the top 15 causes of death in the U.S.

Φεύγετε τὴν πορνείαν!  Flee fornication!  On the weak translation served up in the NAB.  Heroes gotta have standards. . .otherwise, we will melt into the pablum mess of utilitarianism.

"I'm spiritual but not religious."  And I'm on a diet but eat whatever I want when I want.  Get it?  It's a "diet" b/c I've defined "diet" to mean whatever I want it to mean.

That half sunken cruise ship as a metaphor for the Church in Italy. . .and Italy herself.  Apt, indeed.

Thoughts on the heresy of feminism.

The gods must be tasty. . .or at least cavity-causing.

Just in case you've forgotten:  it's coming.

This would be me at the National Museum, or something.

Whether feminism is heresy I leave to others, but my psychological take is that, like the other pillars of progressivism, it is rooted in a complex of envy and hatred. For feminism, of men and of manhood itself.

Similarly with multiculturalism, redistributionism, pacifism, environmentalism, secularism and transnationalism. On the surface they are in favor of some liberating or equalizing value, but that is a half-truth; at root you find the same complex.

Marxism may have lost the Cold War, but its ghost and shadow still infects the West.

If I recall the catechism, envy (covetousness) is the only fundamental attitude proscribed by the decalogue.

  2. C.B., no doubt you are right. . .let's not forget that the Left craves power as well. They covet it.

Well you got some homicide down the block today, didn't you.

Guns for everyone! I think that's a central message of the Gospel.

  4. Anon., I couldn't disagree more. Opposing gun control is not the same as supporting "guns for everyone." In an ideal world, there would be no evil and no need for guns for at all. . .ever. However, gun control advocates claim that the availability of guns increases violent crime. Stats prove otherwise. Truth is truth. . .however much it offends our ideology.
