Good News/Great News: a new preaching project

The student friars of St Dominic's Priory in St. Louis, MO are launching a website dedicated to preaching!

Preaching Friars

Several of the more recent General Chapters of the Order have urged the friars to make better use of the internet to spread the Good News.

Please, take a few minutes to visit the brothers and express your support for this fledgling project.  As I have noted many, many times:  Catholic preaching will only get better if Catholics demand better preaching.

Also, check out this article on the new building that will house the joint studium* of the Central and Southern Provinces.

* "Studium" is Dominicanese for "seminary."

  3. This is so fitting for the Order of Preachers!

When I studied theology I took an introductory homiletics course from Fr. Michael Monshau at the DSPT, because I thought it would be best to be taught by an o.p. friar!

I followed the Mapquest guide to St. Dominic Priory and the location is identified as Jesuit Hall. I hadn't realized until now that Dominican"ism" is a subset of the Jesuits. So, how does a Jesuit decide that he wants to do the "Dominican thing"? Is it a temporary or a permanent arrangement? I thought I had it all figured out but now I'm confused.

  5. Anon, the CDP/SDP studium is located in Jesuit Hall. We rent two of the 17 floors of the building and a large chapel in the basement. This arrangement has been in place since the early 80's. J-Hall is the residence for retired SJ's and some of the faculty of STL.
