  1. I'm sorry, but that is one ugly crucifix.

  2. Beggin' yer pardon, and I know it has little to do with the picture per se, but can Catholic art get any uglier?

I like the crucifix. Sometimes we over-sanitise the crucifixion scene. I am sure it was bloody, painful and ugly to watch.

  4. What is that monstrosity on the wall? Is that supposed to be SPND at the foot of the cross?

  5. Well, that "crucifix" is certainly painful to look at.

  6. Mmm . . . sorry to point out that the dates are wrong : fr Timothy was 1992-2001, fr Carlos was 2001-10 . . . it's a nine-year term of office as Master, as it fits with three triennial cycles of General Chapters : Electoral (with Priors Provincial and Diffinitors), then Provincial, then Diffinitive, then back to Electoral again.
(And Stella; it's probably not SPND, thank Heaven, as I rather suspect that's the Chapel of the Salesianum !)

  7. DM, you're right! I met Fr. Carlos in NOLA a few weeks before he was elected Master. I mistakenly remembered that being 2000. It was 2001.
