Since I was perched against the wall (my daughter and I were only 20 minutes early -- I love it when the Church turns up for celebrations!), I can testify that the walls were indeed shaking.

Though there's no way to record the homily for presentation here, I will hold a record of it on my heart forever.

Patty MedailleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18842286.post-1145622941866692802006-04-21T07:35:00.000-05:002006-04-21T07:35:00.000-05:00Fr Phillip,Your homily became the springboard for ...Fr Phillip,

Your homily became the springboard for quite a discussion yesterday over at my own blog. Should you wish to comment, the post is entitled "Another Resurrection Homily" on Wednesday, April 19, at http://liberalcatholicnews.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_liberalcatholicnews_archive.html#114544969148394026

Peace!Jcecil3https://www.blogger.com/profile/04926137256389306968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18842286.post-1145308633407872402006-04-17T16:17:00.000-05:002006-04-17T16:17:00.000-05:00Br. I wish I had had a way to record the actual homilies for publication here.

Hmmmm...I dunno...the Brits can get pretty fiesty when pushed. I bet Br. McCabe had them shouting a little at Blackfriars...

Fr. PhilipFr. That would be difficult to pull off here in the UK! :)Lawrence Lew OPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04600912414364976709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18842286.post-1145235217434370422006-04-16T19:53:00.000-05:002006-04-16T19:53:00.000-05:00This is what I wish I had heard at the Easter Vigi...This is what I wish I had heard at the Easter Vigil. Not that what I heard was bad. But this is what I needed.

I particularly, uh, resonated with this: "We deny ourselves the benefits of the Resurrection by living lives of entitlement (I am deserving w/o costs!), by living lives of victimization (My problems are someone’s fault!), by living lives of denial (That’s not me!), and by living our lives wallowing in hurt (I will never forgive!). Do not deny yourselves the benefits of the Resurrection." That carries on the rigorous self-examination I began during Lent. It facilitates that scrutiny in the light of the risen Christ.

I fall into the denial category; that's why I'm not a saint. Everybody who's not yet a saint falls into at least one of those categories at least some of the time. But there's no need to wallow in one's faults. The benefits of the Resurrection are there for the taking.Mike Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18100363229707213441noreply@blogger.com
