This one started out as an admonishing homily on courage but ended up about faith. Go figure, uh?

Fr. There were many excellent parts, and I especially liked "he receives salvation, wholeness, a complete repair of his broken relationship with the Father". This homily gave me a desire to just sit in prayer for a while. Thanks for that.

When I prayed with the Gospel this morning, "and he threw off his cloak", was the phrase that jumped out at me. When called by Jesus, he threw off his covering - his protection, allowed himself to become even more vulnerable, opened himself fully to the encounter, left everything behind to be fully there with Jesus...and he "sprang up" - what enthusiasm. How many times have I been tepid in my response to the call of our Lord? (What's He going to ask this time??) Would that I had the faith and trust shown by Bartimaeus - to "take courage; get up, Jesus is calling us to join him...."

Thank you - a great start to my day.
