I wanted to suggest a third category of women religious on behalf of a very good friend of mine who is... a consecrated virgin. She lived in community as a sister until the transformation of religious life occurred in the 1970s. Disenchanted with these changes - including the doffing of the habit - she moved to Rome where she became the first woman to study at the Greg and subsequently became a consecrated virgin, which, as she has me understand it, is a form of religious life that has more or less lain dormant for centuries. I want to add also that she had to obtain special permission from Rome to retain the title "Sister."red_horizon0127https://www.blogger.com/profile/05333871014217027441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18842286.post-14730118494438785582009-10-29T19:03:09.740-05:002009-10-29T19:03:09.740-05:00Thank you, Fr. There are two Latin inscriptions that he wrote. I would like to know what they say. Are you a Latin scholar? If not, could you recommend someone. I've been struggling with this for a while.

Currently, I'm in an active religious community, but I'm not sure if this is where I belong (I've considered diocesan priesthood).

There is this fear: should I not remain in an order and formally vow to live in the manner laid out by the councils (such as in if I was to become a diocesan priest), then I would be failing God, that I couldn't be come a saint as a diocesan.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

I then think, on the other hand, that there is nothing in the diocesan life that would bound me not to live out the councils, at least in some fashion. I could donate much money to the poor or for the good of my parish, I would certainly be attempting to live chastely, and my obedience would be to the my bishop and perhaps my confessor/spiritiual director.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

Also, in terms of community life, is that something that religious who live in community generally seek and desire? For me, I didn't really think much about that aspect before I entered.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18842286.post-29945090757763154472009-10-28T04:34:35.076-05:002009-10-28T04:34:35.076-05:00"Continence means no sex"
