Painting: 40 Days

Been working on this one for days. . .finally decided to just post it and see what it looks like on-line. Too orange. The original is more pink. Oh well.

  1. PINK? And you've been working on it for 40 days?! (just kidding)

It's obviously a desert cave with water on the bottom reflecting some cacti. Which are smoking for some reason. Very very hot?

I guess I'm just not an artist. Oh well. It takes all kinds, right?

And how do you like working with ink?

    1. I never paint with a figure or picture in mind. I just go for the colors. Acrylic ink is a lot of fun. . .but it takes some getting used to. Unlike the paint, it doesn't really have any volume. . .just pigment. . .so it's as fluid as water and dried transparent.

  2. Lava - Thurmond said it was lava pouring down a wall and reflecting off of something.

    1. Lava, that's it! That explains the smoky part I couldn't figure out! Okay, scratch the cacti, let's go with lava. (Fr. PNP is fighting a losing battle with us).

Two votes for lava! Do I hear three...
Splotches are in the eye of the beholder. (OW! I need eye drops).
