Coffee Cup Browsing

Photographer forced by a court to take pics at a same-sex "wedding."  Just the beginning, folks.

So, the LCWR-types are going to protest the CDF by doing more of what the CDF praised them for doing so well???  O. Kay.

B.O. admin "suddenly" looks like a house of cards. . .really, "suddenly"?  It's looked that way since Jan 2009.

Those Professionally Outraged by Anything at All are professionally outraged that a book that provides "a theological rationale for same-sex relationships, masturbation and remarriage after divorce" has been spanked by the CDF.  In other news, water is wet, declares the Pope.

Sister's congregation excuses her errors in the name of "ecumenism."  How can one be ecumenical and lie about one's faith?

Franciscan friars come to the LCWR's defense.  You will see no such statement from the Dominican friars.

Heh.  So much for the meme that striking down ObamaCare will tarnish the Court in the eyes of the public.

  1. I don't know about the Dominicans and LWCR. Some things I've read by Fr Bouchard make me wonder if he's on their side.

    1. You might all sorts of support from individual friars. . .what you won't see is an official statement of support from a province or a collection of provinces. Our "corporate statement" process is so cumbersome and long-winded that nothing good or bad can come of it.

  2. Re the Sister Farley book. Have you noticed the language used by the Franciscans and by the RSM president? Gosh, it's thick.

Re same sex marriage, etc. This is an issue where it hits the Church hard. Like the HHS issue. But it's really just one more sub-topic in the march of the egalitarian non-discriminatory state. And the Church has been totally on board with that when it comes to race, illegal immigration, etc. If you keep feeding the wolf, you can't shriek in surprise when it eventually turns to you with hungry eyes. Well, you can, of course, but it's too late.

With the exception of sexual and life matters, there isn't a Big Government power grab that the RC Church doesn't support.

    1. This is unsurprising given that the RCC is a Big Gov't unto itself!

The difference however is that the RCC has been consistent within its tradition for many, many centuries. That consistency makes it impossible for the Church to align itself with any particular political party or ideology. Just the way it should be.
