Coffee Bowl Browsing (Smiley Edition)

Muslim preacher finds Christ in the Orthodox Church!  (H/T: Mark Shea)

Pride and PrejudiceEmoticon Edition.

Pope Benedict XVI will consecrate Barcelona's Sagrada Familia Cathedral.  I visited this architectural marvel in the summer of 2006.  Unfortunately, the stairs leading to the higher reaches of the church were designed and built for really skinny hobbits.  Needless to say, I stayed downstairs.

For all you chemist-geeks out there:  the Human Ingredient Tee-Shirt.

Drumming up business with rocks and paint.  Unethical but funny.

For men only:  Female to Male translation.

Be really, really sure that you've heard. . .really sure.

  1. A pedant writes: The Expiatory Church of the Holy Family in Barcelona (Catalan: Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família Spanish: Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia) is not a cathedral.

That clever Female to Male Translation piece ignited one of my pet peeves in the "language rearrangement dept." Namely, a truly evil initiative requiring non-cooperation is the replacement of the letters BC and AD that qualify dates. Some scholars advocate using BCE (Before Christian Era, but if you challenge them they'll say the "C" stands for "Common") with CE (Common Era). The Church's preoccupation for 2000 years has been to claim the world for Christ. Let's not have CHRISTIANS supporting efforts to remove His Holy Name from the universal attention it receives simply because the years everywhere are named according to their relationship to Christ's presence on earth. To cooperate with the BCE-CE initiative is to surrender countless public acknowledgements of Christ's presence.

  4. Crux, yea, I know...I thought it was odd that the article referred to the church as a cathedral. We visited the actual cathedral on our trip.
