U.K. Anglicans will be allowed to convert en masse!

Something Big is happening between Rome and Canterbury!

A simultaneous press conference is underway as I type this (11.21am) at the Vatican and at Lambeth Palace.

Speculation is that it will be announced that the Holy Father, Archbishop Rowan Williams, and Archbishop Vincent Nichols have reached some sort of agreement on allowing traditionalist Anglicans into Mother Church in the U.K.

Some have speculated that Rome is announcing the validity of Anglican Orders.  Fat chance.

We'll see in a few minutes what's going on. . .

UPDATE:   And. . .four minutes later we have a winner“In this Apostolic Constitution the Holy Father has introduced a canonical structure that provides for such corporate reunion by establishing Personal Ordinariates which will allow former Anglicans to enter full communion with the Catholic Church while preserving elements of the distinctive Anglican spiritual and liturgical patrimony.”

Good job!

I wonder if the seriously traditional Anglican parish I know in the UK will join? It would mean losing their beloved pastor, since Rome cannot recognize her ordination as valid. It'll be an interesting discernment, I suspect.

    Hi Father!

A friend forwarded this link to me over the weekend. Unfortunately, I have no sense of the Italian. May I trouble you for a brief synopsis of the writer's post?

    Many Thanks!

  4. WOW. Who says Pope Benedict is God's Rottweiler? He's been making conciliatory measures since the start of his pontificate the like the gentle pastor he really is at heart -- all while staunchly defending Truth. Brilliant.

Now if he could make some inroads with our Eastern brethren ...

St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, pray for us and for England.

  5. David, these are pics of the Extraordinary Form Mass that Archbishop Burke celebrated at St Peter's this weekend. The post is very positive about the event. Very.

  6. That is a bold move but beware of the Catholic Church. I used to be Catholic but then I stopped practicing after I found out some disturbing truth. Some say the papacy is the antichrist. They changed the ten commandments which is the Law of God, the Pope claims to be a god, they have killed innocent people for centuries like the Spanish Inquisition and supporting the Nazis, and the priests have molested a lot of children. Jesus would not approve of any of these, it is not Christian, that is evil hiding behind religion. People really need to open their eyes. I know I did!!!
