Back in TX

I have arrived back in Irving. . .

Many thanks for the prayers!

In a few days, I will be moving to Fort Worth for the month of July.

Regular blogging will resume once I am settled into my summer work.

Fr. Philip

P.S.: Thank you as well for all the activity on the WISH LIST! I was able to get a significant amount of reading done while in MS, including Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. If there are any scientists out there who have read this book I'd love to hear your thoughts. As a literary theorist, I am sympathetic to Kuhn's thesis, but I know that many working scientists take exception to it.

  1. Glad you're back.

In the meantime, have a listen to the stuff on this page, from the Sacred Music Colloquium in Chicago.

Chant that will mellow you out like nothing else.

  2. I'm tempted to look up the phone number to the priory so that we can set a date for food fun and hooligan chasing.

  4. I've read it -- and quite a bit of other philosophy of science lately. (I'm in the midst of writing a book on how scientists think -- due out sometime late this year or early next.) The practice of science and the way paradigms shift and theories are evaluated are more varied than I think Kuhn grasps. It's hard to get inside the mind of a scientist without being one with a long history of practice (yes, he was a physicist, but not one with a significant, deep history of research).

  7. Mom, HA! I'm the Simon Cowell of Kiddie Cuteness...when I worked in the psych hospital with the teens, my staff used my name to quell unruliness: "Do I need to go get Mr. Powell?" End of riot.

    :-)

Michelle, thanks for the input. And PLEASE let me know when your book is out. It sounds like a volume to add to my library.
